Four free tools to enhance your blog
Writing a blog can be difficult enough at the best of times. Here are four free tools that I love using:
- Thesaurus.com an online word finding tool. If you’re like me when you’re writing you sometimes need to say similar things line after line. If you’re stuck for a new word for the same concept you’re looking for a synonym and you’ll find it through a thesaurus.
- The macron converter. Not sure where to put a macron on a word – not even sure if it has one or not? No New Zealand content writer can get by without a snazzy tool like the Māori Macron Restoration Service.
- A striking image. Web content is not complete without a striking image – or video to catch attention. There are plenty of free stock photo sites around – my current favourite is Unsplash. Don’t forget to credit the photographer with a mention – and never just rip photos off the internet without checking you have the rights to use it. Using a site like Unsplash will ensure you stay on the right side of the cyber police.
- Tiny jpg will strip all that ‘heavy’ background info out of your photo and help you optimise your image for your website. Super easy to use – it’s a drag and drop that your website will thank you for – if you don’t use a tool like this and load hi res images your site will be on a permanent go-slow.
